  TVR Griffith

The four litre Griffith was introduced at the 1991 Motor Show where its beauty stunned thousands and TVR took hundreds of orders.

That four litre model produced around 240bhp and sounded simply glorious. The burbling V8 became a trademark for TVR and many a window has been wound down to hear a Griffith rumble past. The torquey engine gave very brisk performance too with 60mph reached in just over 5 seconds and a top speed of 158mph.

Peter Wheeler wanted to put the new AJP V8 into the Griffith but timescales slipped and after a brief period where production was halted in anticipation of the new engine, production resumed with a five litre version of the Rover V8 producting 340bhp in the first few models and then standardising on 320bhp (claimed). Early cars can also be found with both 4.3 and 4.5 capacity engines too. The five litre Griffith became the standard model and sold in the most numbers.

The Griffith enjoyed a long production with the last models coming out of the factory in 2002. The final 100 models were part of a limited production run which had a smooth rear light configuration and aluminium dashboards.
